Honolulu, Different People, One God

Hands Held together, signifying oneness

The racial composition of Honolulu comprises Japanese, Filipinos, Chinese, Koreans, Vietnamese Asian Indians ,Native Hawaiians, Samoan Americans, Marshallese, and the Tongan. This is not new. In the time of Jesus many came out to highlight these differences on who should receive from Jesus and who should not. Jesus himself affirmed it as true, let’s look at Jesus’s response to the woman in Canaan:

And, behold, a woman of Canaan came out of the same coasts, and cried unto him, saying, Have mercy on me, O Lord, thou son of David; my daughter is grievously vexed with a devil.

But he answered her not a word. And his disciples came and besought him, saying, Send her away; for she crieth after us.

But he answered and said, I am not sent but unto the lost sheep of the house of Israel.

Then came she and worshipped him, saying, Lord, help me.

But he answered and said, It is not meet to take the children’s bread, and to cast it to dogs.

And she said, Truth, Lord: yet the dogs eat of the crumbs which fall from their masters’ table.

Then Jesus answered and said unto her, O woman, great is thy faith: be it unto thee even as thou wilt. And her daughter was made whole from that very hour. Matthew 15:22-28.

The one who makes the rules has the power to provide exceptions. Even though it was not yet time for the gentiles to receive from the Lord Jesus, this woman’s daughter benefitted because Mercy himself said so! May you receive the mercy of God today in Jesus’ name.

We can see the uniqueness of the honoluluans; we can all receive the life of Christ.  In O’ahu island where Honolulu is situated as the capital city of Hawaii and with the highest population, the visitor count same period January 2022 was 506,602 tourists, over 85% of Honolulu’s population. The visitors profile including the racial diversity of the people makes a perfect ground to enjoy the love of Christ for Galatians 3:28 tells us “There is neither Jew nor Greek, there is neither bond nor free, there is neither male nor female: for ye are all one in Christ Jesus.”

Think about what has been limiting you to receive the life of Christ or share his love with others.

Be encouraged to accept and live for Christ, do not allow culture to deny you the privilege of receiving the new life in Christ Jesus; do not fear to share the love of Jesus to your peers, neighbors, colleagues and tourists. Jesus Christ died for mankind irrespective of their national or tribal affiliations.

John 3:16 For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life

Come out with boldness, show and share some love, put up a sincere smile and enjoy the goodness of God today and forevermore.
